In addition to my publications, I founded a non-profit organization, the Agricultural Genomics Foundation, that aims to make Hemp and cannabinoid science available to a broader public.
PublicationsI am currently an Emerging Crops Specialist at Cornell University's Extension program for the Harvest New York team. My job is to help New York’s hemp farmers and the Cannabis community thrive. My research at CU Boulder was funded by the biotech company Front Range Biosciences. Additionally, through the non-profit organization the Agricultural Genomics Foundation we are making hemp and cannabinoid scientific research available to a broad public with workshops, courses, and a podcast. In collaboration with Professor Brian Keegan, we analyzed data provided by Steep Hill Labs (see the publication here), and soon we will do so with Leafly. Other scientific publications include the comparison of the federal Cannabinoids to that produced by the private market (see Scientific Reports April 2017), showing that the government's Cannabis lacked potency and variation. These results were featured in news platforms such as The Atlantic, Science and FiveThirtyEight.

For my dissertation, I studied one of the big questions in evolutionary biology: Why do organisms reproduce sexually instead of asexually (cloning themselves)?
As an undergrad I worked with vector borne diseases at CIMPAT in Uniandes, and later as an intern and researcher in PECET in Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín Colombia.
